    Chris Evans - Artist Biography

Best known for his loose, playful, and colorful drawings primarily made from black marker, colored pencil, and oil pastels, Chris is most interested in trying to capture the personality or character of people and sometimes animals.

A lover of lines, he usually starts with a contour line drawing of the subject, many times employing the elementary “blind contour” line style. From there he will add other materials and colors to build up the figure in a “more is more” race to the finish. Then, he uses tips of pens and pencils to add, and often subtract, by digging away from what had been there moments before.

Chris works quickly and instinctively to varying results. At the end of the day, making work makes him happy. You may find him working early or late in his studio at the Arts in Bartlett.

Chris has shown work in a couple of solo shows in Aurora and Rockford, Illinois, and as part of a group in Aurora, DeKalb, San Francisco, Japan, and here in Bartlett.
